4-Ingredient Slow Cooker Cheesy Onion Fries

How to Make It

1
Prep the slow cooker
2 minutes

Generously coat the inside of a 4-to-6-quart slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray, or insert a slow cooker liner for easy cleanup.

2
Whisk the creamy onion sauce
2 minutes

In a medium bowl, whisk together the condensed French onion soup and condensed cream of chicken soup until smooth. Stir in 1 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese.

3
Layer fries and sauce
3 minutes

Pour half of the frozen crinkle-cut fries into the bottom of the slow cooker. Spoon half of the creamy onion sauce over the fries. Layer the remaining frozen fries on top, followed by the rest of the sauce mixture.

4
Slow cook on LOW
2–2.5 hours

Cover and cook on LOW for 2 to 2.5 hours (or HIGH for 1 to 1.5 hours) until the fries are tender and the sauce is hot and bubbling around the edges.

5
Melt the top cheese lid
10 minutes

Uncover the slow cooker and sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top. Cover again and let cook for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is completely melted and gooey.

6
Garnish and serve
1 minute

Scatter chopped green onions across the melted cheese. Switch the slow cooker setting to WARM and serve directly out of the pot using a wide spoon or tongs.

Pro Tip for Crispy Top Edges: If you prefer a bit of extra crispiness on the top layer, air-fry or oven-bake the frozen fries for 10–12 minutes before adding them to the slow cooker! This creates a firm outer crust that holds up exceptionally well against the creamy onion sauce.
