The Method
Kitchen Notes & Variations
The Overnight Rule: Like most slow-simmered dishes, this chili tastes even better the next day after the flavors have spent a night chilling in the refrigerator and truly melding together.
-
The Slow Cooker Route: If you prefer a hands-off approach, you can brown the beef and veggies on the stove, drain the grease, and then dump everything (except the vinegar) into a slow cooker. Cook on Low for 6 to 8 hours, stirring in the vinegar right before you dish it up.
-
Up the Heat: Wendy’s chili is notoriously mild so that it appeals to everyone. If you prefer a bit of a kick, add a finely diced jalapeño alongside the bell pepper, or toss a 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper into the dry spice mix
