Beef Puff Pastry Twists

Step-by-Step Preparation

  1. Prep the Station

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Lightly flour your work surface to keep the pastry from sticking.

  2. Add the Filling

Unfold your cold sheet of puff pastry. Evenly spread the cooked, completely cooled ground beef across one half (or the entirety) of the dough, leaving a thin border along the edges. Sprinkle the cheese evenly over the meat. (Note: Using cooled beef is essential so it doesn’t melt the butter in the pastry layers before baking).

  3. Seal and Cut

Fold the bare half of the pastry over the filling (or top with a second sheet if making a double layer), pressing the edges down gently to seal. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the pastry into 1-inch wide strips.

  4. Twist and Arrange

Gently hold both ends of a strip and twist them in opposite directions 2–3 times to form a spiral. Lay the twist onto the prepared baking sheet, pressing the ends down slightly so it holds its shape while baking.

  5. Brush and Bake

Brush the tops of each twist with the egg wash for a glossy, golden finish. Sprinkle with sesame seeds or your favorite seasoning. Bake for 18–22 minutes until the pastry is puffed, crisp, and deeply golden-brown.

Serving Suggestions

Serve these twists warm right out of the oven alongside a rich garlic aioli, marinara, or warm queso dip. They work as a quick game-day snack, an impressive party appetizer, or a fun dinner alternative paired with a crisp side salad.
