Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Preheat and Prepare
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and line it with parchment paper for easy removal later.
Step 2: Prepare the Batter
In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until pale and slightly foamy.
Add the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract, whisking until smooth.
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, whisking until you have a smooth, thin batter — almost like pancake batter.
Step 3: Slice the Apples
Peel the apples, remove the cores, and slice them very thinly — about 1–2 millimeters thick.
You can use a mandoline slicer or a sharp knife.
Pro Tip: The thinner the apple slices, the more “invisible” they’ll become in the baked cake.
Step 4: Combine Apples and Batter
Gently fold the apple slices into the batter, making sure every slice is coated.
It will look like there’s too much apple and not enough batter — that’s exactly right! The apples are the star here.
Step 5: Fill the Pan
Pour the apple mixture into your prepared loaf pan.
Press down lightly with a spatula to remove air pockets and flatten the surface.
Step 6: Bake
Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Step 7: Chill Before Serving
For the best texture, allow the cake to cool completely — even refrigerate for a few hours.
This helps the layers firm up and makes slicing easier.
Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
