Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).

Mix the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a medium bowl until well combined.

Stir in the buttermilk until you get a soft, sticky dough.

Melt the butter in the microwave and pour it into a square baking dish (8×8 or 9×9 inches). Be sure your dish is deep enough to handle bubbling butter.

Spoon the dough into the pan, directly over the melted butter. Gently spread it to the edges using a spatula, letting the dough absorb the butter as it goes.

Score the dough into 9 squares using a knife—this helps separate the biscuits once baked.

Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the top is beautifully golden and crisp.
