THE INGREDIENTS LIST:
1.5 Lbs.Of lean beef, cut into bite-sized pieces.
2 Cups.Of fresh mushrooms, sliced.
1 large onion, finely chopped.
3 cloves of garlic, minced.
1 Cup.Of beef broth.
1 Cup.Of heavy cream.
2 Tbsp.Of all-purpose flour.
2 Tbsp.Of olive oil.
1 Tsp.Of dried thyme.
Salt and pepper to taste.
4 Cups.Of cooked egg noodles or rice (for serving).
To begin, you need to heat your oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
Warm the olive oil in a large pan over moderate heat. After adding the meat chunks, season them with salt and pepper and set them aside. The meat should be seared until it forms a crust that is golden brown on both sides. This process preserves the taste as well as the fluids.
Place the onion that has been chopped and the mushrooms that have been cut into the same skillet. They should be sautéed for approximately 5 to 7 minutes, or until they are soft and the mushrooms have released their moisture. After one extra minute of cooking, stir in the minced garlic.
Put the flour on top of the mushrooms and onions. To ensure a uniform distribution of the flour, stir the mixture well. Pour in the beef broth little by little while stirring constantly in order to prevent lumps from forming. Allow the mixture to simmer for around two to three minutes so that it can thicken.
After you’ve added the dried thyme, pour in the heavy cream. Simmer for a further two to three minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce reaches the desired consistency and is seasoned appropriately. Salt and pepper should be adjusted to taste.
Place the beef pieces that have been seared back into the pan. Ensure that they are evenly covered with the creamy mushroom sauce before serving. Let the mixture cook at a low simmer for a further two to three minutes so that the flavors can combine.
Prepare a casserole dish by greasing it with butter and then gently transfer the beef and mushroom mixture into it, being sure to spread it out evenly.
Put the casserole dish in an oven that has been warmed and bake it for about 25 to 30 minutes, or until the top is gently brown and the casserole is bubbling.
Remove from oven and allow to cool for a while once done. It is best to serve the Savory Mushroom Beef Casserole over cooked egg noodles or rice, as this will enable the rich sauce to permeate each and every mouthful.
