How to Make Hamburger Mushroom Bake
Step 1: Brown the Beef
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Heat oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until softened, about 3–4 minutes. Stir in the garlic and cook briefly.
Add the ground beef, breaking it up as it cooks. Season lightly with salt and pepper and cook until fully browned. Drain excess grease if needed.
Step 2: Cook the Mushrooms
Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet with the beef. Cook for 4–5 minutes until they release their moisture and become tender.
Step 3: Make the Sauce
Reduce heat to low and stir in the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream (or milk), Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper. Mix until everything is well combined and creamy.
Step 4: Assemble and Bake
Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and spread evenly. If using cheese, sprinkle it over the top.
Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, or until hot, bubbly, and lightly golden on top.
