THE INGREDIENTS LIST:
1 quart (4 cups) Everclear grain alcohol (or a high-proof vodka)
1 quart (4 cups) whole milk
3 cups granulated sugar
2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract
Zest of 4 large oranges
2 cups fresh orange juice (strained)
1 cup water
In a large mixing bowl, carefully combine the Everclear or high-proof vodka with the whole milk. Stir gently until well mixed.
To the mixture, add the zest of four big oranges. This stage infuses the oranges’ vibrant, zesty taste into the alcohol and milk. Allow it to rest for at least 2 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to fully extract.
After infusing the mixture, strain it through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove the orange zest. This will leave a smooth and aromatic foundation.
Combine the granulated sugar, water, and fresh orange juice in a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring periodically. Remove from the fire and set aside to cool after the sugar has completely dissolved.
Add the cooled syrup to the infused alcohol and milk combination. Stir well to ensure a uniform dispersion of tastes. Then add the pure vanilla essence to the mixture. This will give the moonshine a thick, creamy undertone.
Pour the Orange Creamsicle Moonshine into sterilized glass bottles or mason jars with tight-sealing lids using a funnel. Make sure they are fully sealed to keep the moonshine fresh and potent.
Allow the moonshine to rest for at least one week so that the flavors can combine and decrease. The aging procedure improves the overall flavor and smoothness.
You can enjoy Orange Creamsicle Moonshine on its own, over ice, or as a base for a variety of original cocktails. Add an orange slice as a garnish for an additional burst of citrus flavor.
