Utilizing Baking Soda for Effective Pest Control

Did you know that baking soda, a common kitchen staple, can help keep pests away? Beyond its role in baking and cleaning, baking soda serves as a surprisingly effective pest control agent. Whether you’re dealing with fleas, mice, ants, or other pests, baking soda could be the solution you need.

Fleas: Fleas can be particularly troublesome if you have pets. To combat them, mix baking soda and salt in equal parts, and sprinkle the mixture on carpets and pet bedding. This combination dehydrates the fleas, leading to their demise. After a few hours, vacuum thoroughly to remove all fleas and their eggs.

Mice and Rats: These pests dislike the scent and taste of baking soda. Sprinkle baking soda in areas where you suspect mice and rats frequent, or mix it with a bit of sugar to attract them. Once ingested, the baking soda reacts with their stomach acids, causing internal issues that are fatal for them.

Cockroaches: Cockroaches can be challenging to eliminate, but baking soda can help. Mix equal parts of baking soda and sugar to attract cockroaches. They are drawn to the sugar and inadvertently consume the baking soda, which is lethal to them. Place this mixture near entry points or hiding spots.

Ants: Similar to cockroaches, ants are attracted to sweet substances. A mixture of baking soda and powdered sugar placed along ant trails can help reduce their numbers. The ants carry the particles back to their colony, helping control the population.
